Architecture is a visual medium and we are designers so the appearance of this site is important to us. The site takes advantage of the web's graphic design and multimedia capabilities and is therefore best experienced with color monitors and Pentium class computers. The site is optimized for 1024x768 (XGA) resolution in high color mode, but works quite well at 640x800 and 256 colors as well. If you are using a resolution below 1024x768 click here for suggestions on how to get the most out of the site.

NAVIGATION
The navigation bar at left makes exploring the site easy. The wedge-shaped pointer indicates the current section while the squiggle pointers suggest where to go next. In some cases partial content of the suggested page will be preloaded to minimize waiting time.

Use the Ergo tab at the top of the navigation bar to return to the home page (or animated presentation if you have Shockwave loaded.) Bookmark the home page to avoid the entry animation if you return to the site. Use your browser's back button when retracing your steps to take advantage of cached pages.

SUGGESTED BROWSERS
Although this site will run fine on any JavaScript enabled browser that uses plug-ins I suggest using a 4.0 browser. If you don't hate Microsoft I suggest using Explorer because it comes pre-loaded with several of the plug-ins use by this site, and will install the others automatically. BROWSER SETTINGS
Default browser settings should work fine on this site. However, here are a few suggestions to improve performance: Set your cache to fairly large size (10 MB). Set security to medium if you plan to download plug-ins. Make sure JavaScript is enabled. Do not override any background, text, or link color settings.

PLUG-INS
Plug-ins (and active-x controls) are bits of software that add functionality to your browser. This site requires the Shockwave plug-in to view multimedia content integral to the site. In addition, you must install the Whip plug-in to view AutoCAD drawings on line, the Smoothmove viewer to view photo-realistic virtual spaces, and any VRML viewer to navigate the virtual reality spaces.

Use of the Shockwave plug-in is strongly recommended. It is an extremely common plug-in used on thousands of sites, and will enhance your experience on this site and others. The other plug-ins are more exotic but far more impressive. If you want a peek at some of the latest web technologies they are worth the hassle for their "wow" value. Really.
